We’re always available to offer help and advice for all aspects of aftercare for your tattoo or piercing. Here is a list of the most commonly asked question which we hope will answer any initial questions you may have.
Ears
- Approximate healing time is 6 weeks. Wash and bathe as normal to help the healing process.
- It is recommended that you use TCP or Witch Hazel, dipping a cotton bud into the solution and touching both sides of the piercing twice daily (with the cotton bud - not fingers) until the piercing is completely healed. Very occasionally use a little Savlon Cream to aid the healing process.
Eyebrows
- Approximate healing time is 6-8 weeks. Wash and bathe as normal to help the healing process.
- Add ¼ teaspoon of table salt to an average sized cup of pre-boiled or distilled water, apply the salt solution to the piercing with a cotton bud. Make sure you avoid any contact with the solution and your eyes. In the event of any eye contact with the solution quickly rinse the eyes under cold running water. It is suggested that you apply this salt solution each morning.
- Each evening apply a solution of 50% Hydrogen Peroxide to 50% pre-boiled water with a cotton bud. Again make sure you avoid any contact with the solution and your eyes. In the event of eye contact with the Hydrogen Peroxide solution, rinse in clean water and seek medical advice immediately. Hydrogen Peroxide is available from most chemists.
Nose
- Approximate healing time is 6 weeks. Wash and bathe as normal to help the healing process.
- No back clasp has been put on your piercing because the nose is a place for bacterial filtration. Without the back clasp (butterfly clasp) the piercing should heal quicker. Because of no back clasp, your piercing stud may move slightly for the first two or three nights during your sleep. If this does occur we recommend using a cotton bud to reposition. Place a little Savlon Cream on your piercing (outside only) and push the stud back with the cotton bud. It should right itself after a day or two. Leave the stud in until the piercing is completely healed.
Lip (The Labret)
- Approximate healing time 4-6 weeks. Wash and bathe as normal to help the healing process.
- You must keep your mouth scrupulously clean at all times especially during the healing time of the new piercing. You must clean the piercing twice daily both inside and outside using cotton buds saturated with Hydrogen Peroxide. Hydrogen Peroxide is available from most chemists.
Nipple and Navel
- Nipple - approximate healing time 6-8 weeks minimum. Wash and bathe as normal to help the healing process.
- Navel - approximate healing time 12 weeks minimum. Wash and bathe as normal to help the healing process.
- Each morning add ¼ teaspoon of table salt to an average sized cup of pre-boiled water and allow the solution to cool naturally. Then, placing the cup of solution over your piercing hold it firmly in place for approximately one minute. Next remove the cup and, using a cotton bud, carefully remove any (all) crust or anti-matter that may have formed on either side of your piercing.
- After making sure that your piercing is completely clean, reintroduce a clean salt solution to the piercing and allow a good soak. Next turn the ring stud jewellery so that some of the salt water enters the piercing. Dry with clean tissue.
- Each evening mix a solution of 50% pre-boiled water to 50% Hydrogen Peroxide in a clean non-metallic container, dip a cotton bud into the solution and use the cotton bud to clean the entrance and exit hole of the piercing, making sure the piercing is clean at all times.
- Hydrogen Peroxide is available from most chemists. You may find it useful to mix a large quantity of the pre-boiled water and Hydrogen Peroxide in a clean non-metallic container, eg a thoroughly washed out soft drinks bottle, ready to decant into a smaller container.
Tongue
- Approximate healing time 3-4 weeks.
You must keep your mouth scrupulously clean at all times especially during the piercing healing process.
- To aid healing add ¼ teaspoon of table salt to an average sized cup of pre-boiled water. Allow to cool naturally and rinse 3-4 times a day while the water is still warm.
- Alternatively you may wish to use 6% Hydrogen Peroxide. Mix one part of the 6% Hydrogen Peroxide with 5 parts of pre-boiled water. Rinse the mouth 2-3 times a day with this Hydrogen Peroxide solution as with a mouthwash. Hydrogen Peroxide is available from most chemists.
- The tongue usually swells after piercing. Cold drinks, and ice may reduce the swelling. During the first week liquid food is advisable, eg soup.
Follow the aftercare instructions until your relevant piercing has completely healed. Personal hygiene is of the utmost importance to allow your piercing to heal correctly.
